Volunteer Opportunities

PTO President (or Co-Presidents!)

Don't be intimidated! With a full board behind you and past presidents to help, this is your chance to grab a friend and take over the PTO! As President you set the agenda for the monthly meetings and make sure all board members are comfortable in their roles. You also manage the main Friends of EES email account and Google Drive and delegates messages and tasks as needed. Essentially, the Friends of EES President brings the fun, the vision, and keeps everyone motivated! Typically this is a 3-year term.

Enrichment Coordinator

Looking for a fun and dynamic volunteer role? As Enrichment Coordinator, you are at the heart of the action when it comes to the activities and events that our kids love the most. In fact, whenever your kid comes off the school bus and talks about the incredibly cool activity they participated in today, you can expect that the Enrichment Coordinator was involved! Events this year included nature visits from The Audubon Society, trips to the Whaling Museum and an author visit from Josh Funk (where every kid took home a signed book!) This very important position requires researching and coordinating these kinds of events with both teachers and room leads as well as the Friends of EES board. Feel like a big commitment? Don’t worry, you’ll have nothing but back-up and support from all of us at Friends of EES. Come be the primary facilitator of your child’s favorite days at school! Typically is a 3-year term.

Room Lead

As a Room Lead, you’ll help create a positive and supportive learning environment by assisting teachers with classroom activities, organizing special events, and coordinating teacher gifts on behalf of the class. Being a Room Lead is not only about helping out – it’s also a fun and fulfilling way to get involved in your child’s education. You’ll be able to witness the joy and excitement of the kids as they participate in fun classroom activities and events. This is a 1-year commitment.

Teacher Appreciation Week Coordinator

Teacher Appreciation week is typically held in May and is made up of a series of events that let our teachers know how grateful we are for all their hard work. As the Teacher Appreciation Week Coordinator, you are in charge of facilitating each daily event to show our teachers just how much we value them. From coordinating the annual flower sale to organizing a community-wide restock of coffees and teas, your efforts will go a long way in making this week truly memorable. Because this position focuses on one week during the school year, it is an ideal volunteer position for someone with limited time. Typically is a 3-year term.

Teacher Appreciation Luncheon Coordinator

The Teacher Appreciation Luncheon Coordinator is in charge of running three Teacher Appreciation Lunches every year. The first lunch is held in October with food provided by volunteers from grades 3-5 and the second lunch is held in March with food provided by volunteers in grades K-2. The last lunch is during Teacher Appreciation week in May and the food is provided by donations school wide. As the Luncheon Coordinator, you’ll organize a series of delicious and thoughtful events where teachers can relax, enjoy, and feel appreciated for all their hard work. Typically is a 3-year term.

Field Day Point Person

Field Day is a highlight of the school year, filled with games, activities, and friendly competition that our students look forward to. As the Field Day Point Person, you’ll be at the heart of organizing the event and making sure everything runs smoothly. The Field Day Point Person works closely with other parents, teachers, and staff members to plan and execute the event. You’ll have plenty of support, whether it’s organizing volunteers, setting up stations, or coordinating the schedule. This is a team effort, and your leadership will help ensure a smooth, successful event. Typically is a 3-year term.

Community Read Point Person

The Community Read Event is a special occasion where students, teachers, and even parents can come together to celebrate books and reading. As the Point Person, you’ll play a key role in organizing an event that inspires a lifelong love of reading in our children. Each year you’ll help bring a new book to life and show students the joy and excitement that can come from reading. Typically is a 3-year term.

Social Media Coordinator

The Social Media Coordinator manages our Facebook and Instagram accounts, posting about upcoming meetings and events in order to make sure the word is out! In this role you’ll have the chance to highlight the amazing things happening at our school – from student achievements and classroom activities to special events and celebrations. You'll be telling the story of our school and giving a behind-the-scenes look at how our students and teachers are making a difference. Ideally you should also have a working relationship with contacts at the Manchester Cricket and/or Gloucester Daily Times to help get our events publicized in that way. Typically is a 3-year term.
